Candice P. Haley: A Journey Aligned with Purpose
Candice P. Haley’s journey to becoming a leading probate, estate planning, and guardianship attorney is a story of divine alignment and personal destiny. Her path to these specialties began serendipitously while working for the renowned Probate & Guardianship Attorney, Janice Villarrubia, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Under Janice’s mentorship, Candice not only honed her legal skills but also discovered a profound passion for these areas of law. Janice’s impact was transformative, guiding Candice to a career that felt both purposeful and deeply fulfilling.
However, Candice’s connection to probate and estate planning runs much deeper than a professional chance. She hails from a large, vibrant family background that has significantly shaped her approach to law. On her maternal side, her grandparents, the Crawfords, had 16 children in Dallas, Texas, but moved from across South and North Carolina. On her paternal side, her grandparents, the Haley’s (also known as the Henderson’s), raised 12 children in East Texas with roots from Louisiana. This rich familial legacy has profoundly influenced Candice’s dedication to helping families secure their legacies and assets.
Candice is one of the many descendants of Anthony P. Crawford who was born in January, 1865 in Abbeville, South Carolina. After finishing school, Anthony Crawford worked as a laborer for Ben Crawford. Following his father Thomas Crawford's death in 1893, Anthony, the only literate sibling among nine, inherited land from his father. In 1916, Anthony was lynched in Abbeville, SC by a mob of 200-400 white people after cursing a white man who offered a low price for his cotton seed and for being perceived as too wealthy for a Black man. His body was brutally beaten, dragged through town, and finally hanged and shot. The family was forced to leave their land and business behind. Anthony’s legacy is remembered for his hard work, determination, and his defiant stance against racial injustice.
Candice’s personal experiences as a descendant of notable families like Anthony Crawford and the Haley/Henderson’s from Marshall and Kilgore, Texas, have given her a unique perspective on the importance of effective estate planning and guardianship. Her lifelong commitment to these fields is driven by her deep understanding of family dynamics and legacy preservation.

Her warmth, professionalism, and family-oriented approach make her the ideal choice for guiding you through the complexities of probate, estate planning, and guardianship.
